Nature Iraq training in Erbil

Thinking about Iraq and Kurdistan, many people will think about oil, desert, Saddam Hoessein and more. But there are so many other fields to pay attention to. One of them is environment. To create awareness about this, about nature, IMCK organises a few one day trainings in close cooperation with Nature Iraq. Today twelve journalists joined our training in Erbil.


The day started off with an interactive presentation by Azzam Alwash, founder and president of the board of Nature Iraq: while he is giving the journalists food for thought and debate, the screen behind him shows amongst other things, Kurdisch mountains with snow on top and a deep canyon with a fast flowing river.

Today's trainer is Xdir Domle, journalist and IMCK senior trainer.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
