Human Rights for journalists

International trainer Ruth Hopkins returned to Kurdistan to train a group of Kurdish journalists on human rights. With IMCK senior trainer Khidher Domle she offers a 5 day workshop on human rights issues and international law. The participants come from all over Iraqi Kurdistan.



The training is meant to help journalists to specialize in the subject. A second workshop, for journalists from Arab speaking parts of Iraq will be held in December. The project is funded by the Swiss embassy in Amman.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
