More women in media; week 6

The group of young female starters arrived enthusiastically this morning to continue their six week course in basic journalism. The last two weeks they had trainings in TV; using the camera, editing, making a news item.
This week is all about general knowledge, starting with local economy.


The trainers are Khaled Sulaiman, our lead trainer and Shwan Mohammed, journalist. Today they are supported by an expert on local economy, Faisal Ali.
This week is the sixth and last week of the course. There will be a closing and certificate ceremony on Thursday.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
