American visit to Mosul workshop

Matthew Ference of the American Consulate in Erbil attended the closing session of Mosul Together, the workshop for TV-makers from Mosul at the IMCK training hall in Erbil, on June 14, 2012. Together with trainers Nynke la Porte and Mazen Tayar he offered the participants their certificates.



The project was financed by the American Embassy in Baghdad. The second part of the project, for print journalists from Mosul, will start on June 24, again in Erbil.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
