IMCK/Shell workshop for photographers in Basrah

IMCK and Shell cooperated on their first project in Basrah. At the University of Basrah international photographer Eddy van Wessel on May 20, 2012 started a 3 day workshop on photography. The main theme of the workshop was the photo story, focusing on subjects like environment and the Shatt al Arab.


Some 15 photographers took part in the workshop, that will run until May 22.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
