Selfdefence training for Lveen and Hawlati newspapers

Trainer Walrick Halewijn gave a one-day selfdefence training for Lveen newspaper on October 19, 2011. The training took place at the IMCK training-hall in Sulaymaniya. There were 6 participants who were taught how to handle aggression directed at journalists and how to defend themselves in case of an attack.


On October 20, 2011, Halewijn offered an afternoon training in selfdefence at the Hawlati newspaper office. There were six participants who took part in this training.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
