Training for UN staff


International trainer Timothy Spence started a five day workshop on journalism and PR for staff of Unami and other UN-organisation. In total 18 people attend the workshop that is held in Erbil from February 13 to 17, 2011. Spence is being assisted for part of the time by IMCK senior trainer Judit Neurink.


Subjects covered are amongst others how to make a press release that ends up in the media, how to write different styles of journalism, how to make a news item, reportage and opinion piece, and how to make an interview.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
