Next to teaching journalists, IMCK has taken on the task of taming three Kurdish kittens. Shera, Pasha and Rasha have adopted the IMCK office in Sulaymaniya as their home.
The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas. Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December. Experts on oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.
On behalf of Press Now Pyns Bosker started on November 2 a consultancy at Awene to help to develop a business model for its online products. He will focus on how to use the internet as a marketing and income generating tool. Awene is considered as one of the independent newspapers in Kurdistan. It was established in 2006 and is owned by its editors and journalists. Press Now has supported Awene from the very start in 2006. Apart from financial support, Press Now provided managerial advice and journalistic training.
