Hassan Rachidi and Xidr Domle started on May 1 their 5-day training for TV journalists from Kirkuk. Fifteen journalists with different backgrounds will get a training in reporting on local issues in the training hall of IMCK in Sulaymania.
Hassan, working for Al-Jazeera in Doha, is training for IMCK for the fourth time. Xidr works together with Judit Neurink since 2004 and is lead-trainer of the post-graduate course Media bo Khalk.
The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas. Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December. Experts on oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.
On behalf of Press Now Pyns Bosker started on November 2 a consultancy at Awene to help to develop a business model for its online products. He will focus on how to use the internet as a marketing and income generating tool. Awene is considered as one of the independent newspapers in Kurdistan. It was established in 2006 and is owned by its editors and journalists. Press Now has supported Awene from the very start in 2006. Apart from financial support, Press Now provided managerial advice and journalistic training.
Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
