Workshops on HIV and AIDS



Lizan Hardi and Judit Neurink started their first workshop for journalists on HIV and AIDS on April 19. They will repaet the workshop the following two days.

In Kurdistan the disease is still a taboo, a lot of people say it doesn't exist, there are no statistics on how many people are infected.

Lizan, specialist in blood-diseases, will inform the journalists about HIV and AIDS and other STD's. Judit will teach them how to make news of this subject and stimulate them to think about how to inform the people.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
