British delegation at Media bo Khalq

A British diplomatic delegation visited the students at the Media bo Khalq course in Irbil on Tuesday afternoon September 1, 2009. The deputy head of mission in Baghdad, Jon Wilks, and the British consul general in the Kurdish region of Iraq, Jeremy Macadie, allowed the students to interview them for more than an hour.

Great Britain has granted IMCK part of the funding necessary to run the post graduate course for Iraqi Arabs and Kurds in Irbil. The training runs for 8 months and started in August 1, 2009.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
