Transparency workshop ended


The workshop on transparency of government, given by Dutch lawyer Frank van Haren, ended in Irbil on December 21 with certificates for 29 participants. Van Haren did two workshops of 4 days each, one for journalists and one for lawyers and politicians. He ended his stay in Irbil with an evening with Kurdish judges.
All participants were very enthusiastic about the content of the workshop. Van Haren expects to come back to Kurdistan to give the same workshop in Duhok later in 2009.

The first part of IMCK workshop on Knowledge Awareness of Oil and Gas finishes in Kalar Ali Ghazi from Nature Iraq explains how oil and gas impact on the environment and IMCK journalism trainer Khaled Suleiman helps the journalists develop story ideas.   Part 2 of the workshop is in Sulaymaniya in December.  Experts on  oil and gas will give information to help journalists become more specialized on the topic.

KDP women training

Gregor Niessen ,an expert on capacity building for political parties and NGO ’s started on March 15 a 5-day training for 24 women from the Kurdish Democratic Party ( KDP . The other days he will train together with Sabina Gazic , member of the Amsterdam City Council. They will make the women more aware of the political process and encourage them to strive to reach top positions within the KDP . They will talk with them about how to get this more visible role and how to get trough the ceiling.
